I certainly am starting to question Summit. But I feel hope and I am desperately trying to keep it!
From Johnny Butane at Dread Central:
Juan Antonio Bayona eyeballing EclipseWow, it really is becoming the Harry Potter franchise with vampires ... Thompson on Hollywood have learned that both Juan Antonio Bayona (pictured, The Orphanage) and James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma) are eyeing possibly directing the third movie in the Twilight franchise, Eclipse.
At least Summit’s not making any qualms about the fact that there’ll be a different director again this time, so it won’t be a surprise when New Moon helmer Chris Weitz isn’t asked to return.
Both directors are strong talents and could lend a serious voice to this franchise, which, if reactions to the first film are any indication, it’s desperately in need of. Of course it’s all rumor and conjecture until Summit makes their decision, which I doubt will happen before New Moon is done.
Bayona & Mangold Eyeing Eclipse? As we reported earlier James Mangold is rumored to be in talks to Direct new Moon. Now just that news lone yesterday would usually throw me for a loop but it seems to me that Summit Entertainment hasn't proven itself a loyal being so far. So when I heard this today I still thought really? -Wow but no shock and awe campaign like it was with the Taylor Lautner casting debacle. Unless all that was for publicity. It seems to have worked out for Michael Copon....Now we know his name. But does all this drama surrounding our beloved book series give us a bad taste in our mouths?
